Welcome to Culburra Beach and the NSW South Coast
Culburra Beach
Culburra Beach is one of the most beautiful spots on the south coast. Situated about 22 kilometres south east of Nowra it is surrounded by river, lake and beach and it has been a established and popular holiday destination for Sydney and Canberra holiday makers for many years with good swimming, surfing, fishing and boating.
A relaxed laid-back way of life, friendly people, good schools and services, loads of sports and activities, a temperate climate which is comfortable all year round with balmy sea breezes to keep things cool in summer and clean fresh crisp air in winter, makes Culburra Beach a great place to live as well as being the perfect holiday destination.

Surf Club at Warrain Beach
Culburra has the two closest surf beaches to Nowra and is home to the Culburra Beach and Nowra Surf Club and clubhouse which is located at Warrain Beach. The beaches are patrolled during the summer holiday period, and being located on the north side and the south side of Penguin Head, the beaches provide a variety of surf conditions for board riders, swimmers, body surfers and families with young children.
The beaches and the rocky headlands at the foot of Penguins Head and Crookhaven Head are fabulous fishing spots for Culburra visitors and residents favourite pass times, fishing!!

Lake Wollumboola
Picnic Area at Lake Wollumboola Boat Ramp
Lake Wollumboola is located within Jervis Bay National Park and is another beautiful attraction at Culburra Beach. Lake Wollumboola is a coastal lake which opens to the sea occasionally and can be used for a variety of recreational water activities, depending on the lakes water levels. When the water level in the lake it's perfect for sailing, windsurfing, water skiing and of course, fishing. When water levels are lower there is a wide variety of bird life. After the lake has been open to the sea, prawns and fish are in abundance making for a great family activity of prawning and fishing which the kids can enjoy. The lake foreshore, from the entrance in either direction, allows for a pleasant natural bush walk.
Picnics, Cycling & Other Activities
Picnic and Park Area at Tilbury Cove
Picnic areas with BBQ's and toilet facilities are located at a number of areas close to the beaches including Tilbury Cove and Crookhaven Heads which are both have scenic viewing spots along with Penguin Head (great for dolphin and whale watching). Other picnic areas are on the shores of Lake Wollumboola near its entrance at the bottom of The Lake Circuit and at the Lake Wollumboola boat ramp down Wollumboola Lane (off Greenbank Grove).
Culburra Beach is great for cycling with a cycle path along Prince Edward Avenue which goes all the way to Crookhaven Heads viewing platform. The streets around Culburra are relatively cycle friendly but please consider the safety of yourself, your familCy and the motorist with which you will be sharing the roads and remember your HELMETS.
Tennis courts are available for hire and are a great alternative when you don't feel like going to the beach. Tennis court hire is currently don through the Swinging Swaggy Pottery & Gift Shop located in the main street shops at Culburra near Raine & Horne Real Estate.

Boat Ramps
The boat ramps located at Crookhaven Heads and Orient Point provide safe launching facilities. Crookhaven boat ramp provides access to the Crookhaven and Shoalhaven Rivers, local offshore fishing grounds and "The Banks", famous for its marlin, tuna and other game fish (please remember to inform Shoalhaven Marine Rescue when your heading out and on your return). The Orient Point boat ramp also gives access to the river for small craft. Charter boats and many private boats use these offshore fishing grounds.
